Former champion Robert Whittaker shapes as the biggest test of Khamzat Chimaev’s career when the pair clash at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi.

Australia’s Whittaker (27-7) has previously ruled at middleweight and has plans to recapture gold, while Chimaev (13-0) hopes to book himself into a title bout with a statement-making win.

The two meet in a five-round co-main event ahead of the featherweight title fight between Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway.

Round 1: The pair trade low kicks to open up before Chimaev shoots a double leg. Whittaker sprawls but Chimaev is able to get control along the fence. Whittaker defending but Khamzat has his back and is working and now has both hooks in but Whittaker scrambles and briefly escapes. Khamzat quick to regain control of the exchange with one hook in. Whittaker taps! A face crank was only just sunk in before the tap came, Whittaker possibly suffered an injury.
