Goalies
David Rittich, LA vs. SJ (18% rostered)
Expect Rittich to get the start if Darcy Kuemper is not ready for the Kings’ home opener; they had a seven-game roadie to start the season while their home rink was undergoing renovations. Rittich and the Kings were blown out by the Knights in a 6-1 loss in their last game, but they should bounce back against the worst team in the league. The Sharks are still looking for their first win and continue to be without top prospect Macklin Celebrini in the lineup.
Justus Annunen, COL at UTA (19% rostered)
Annunen’s fantasy value is climbing and gaining momentum. Sure, he had two manageable matchups against the Ducks and Kraken, but he also allowed just two total goals. This will be a stiffer test but the Avs should have the advantage because of their elite scoring; Utah will be leaning heavily on Mikhail Sergachev with a very banged-up blueline. If the Avs get in trouble, they’ll be able to score their way out of it.
If Annunen gets this start, he should be one of the best streaming options of the night.
Dan Vladar, CGY vs. CAR (7% rostered)
The Canes have dominated this matchup in recent seasons with a 6-1-1 record in their past eight matchups, including a 7-2 win last season. However, aside from a weak showing in the season opener, Vladar has allowed just three goals in his past two games.
The Canes’ offense isn’t quite as explosive as they were last season, averaging just three goals per game with a plus-2 goal differential. I think the Flames can make this game tight — the Canes scored just three against the struggling Oilers — which will give them a chance to win, but feel like the Canes still have the edge in this game.
Alex Lyon, DET vs. NJ (21% rostered)
With Lyon winning two straight games, including an impressive 29-save shutout win against the Isles, look for him to get the start again. This is not an easy matchup and the Devils have typically been much better on the road than at home. However, it’s hard to argue against a hot goalie, so at the very least I’d treat this matchup with cautious optimism.
Another strong performance, even with a loss, means Lyon could wrest the No. 1 job away from Cam Talbot. Lyon faced the Devils just once last season on Nov. 22 and shut them out, but don’t expect that to happen this time because the Devils were a .500 team at the time and put just 16 shots on net that game without captain Nico Hischier in the lineup.
Marc-Andre Fleury, MIN at TB (15% rostered)
You’d have to possess pretty strong nerves to stream Fleury in this matchup. The Lightning scored eight goals last game, they’ve beaten the Wild three straight times and Fleury has not played since Oct. 12 in a 4-5 loss to the Kraken.
On the plus side, the Wild have been one of the best teams in the league this season and they’re 3-0-1 on the road with the requisite talent and depth to make this a close matchup. The Wild have limited their opponents to just one goal in three straight games, but it’ll be admittedly hard to do that against the Lightning.
