Following the New York Yankees’ series-clinching 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians to advance to the World Series, designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton was named the 2024 American League Championship Series MVP.

The Yankees defeated the Guardians in extra innings on Saturday night, with Stanton hitting one home run with two RBI in the team’s victory.

Stanton has recorded five runs, four home runs, and nine RBI during the postseason, helping the Yankees advance to their first World Series since their 2009 championship.

The 34-year-old adds this title to his lengthy list of accolades in his 18th year in MLB, which includes the 2017 MVP, two Silver Slugger awards, and two Hank Aaron awards.

Game One of the World Series will kick off on Friday, with the Yankees facing the winner of the National League Championship Series in either the New York Mets or the Los Angeles Dodgers.

LA currently leads the series 3-2 and will have the chance to punch its ticket to the Fall Classic with a win over the Mets at Dodger Stadium on Sunday night.
