Neymar’s career could take an unexpected turn this year, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
According to a report published by the Italian outlet this Wednesday (8), Napoli considered signing the Brazilian forward this year.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis, sporting director Giovanni Manna, and coach Antonio Conte reportedly discussed the possibility for a long time.
Also according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the idea was born in January and was discarded in May.
When Neymar’s name first started being discussed at Napoli, the signing of Kevin de Bruyne was not yet being considered.
After the Belgian’s transfer, the plan to bring in the Brazilian was abandoned.
De Bruyne has played eight matches in the 2025/26 season, with three goals and two assists. He was only not a starter in the last one. He played in all of Napoli’s matches.
Neymar was signed by Santos in January, but has been struggling with physical problems.
In September, he suffered his third muscle injury since returning to Peixe and still does not have a set date to return to the pitch.
