Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said in a Thursday interview with Carrington Harrison of 96.5 The Fan that his team would be “blaring” Taylor Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, at the team facility today (11:55 mark).
“Oh yeah, for sure. I’m super excited,” Mahomes said when asked if he was celebrating release of the album, which dropped on Friday at midnight ET.
“You know, I haven’t been able to hear the album yet, but I’m super excited to be able to do that, and it’ll be blaring all through the Chiefs facility tomorrow. And we’ll be supporting Taylor and she’s put in so much hard work into this, and I’m excited to hear the album just like everybody else.”
Obviously, the album has a little more meaning in the Chiefs’ facility with Swift’s fiancee, tight end Travis Kelce, playing in his 13th season on the team. Some of the tracks even have references to Kelce, who had been dating Swift for a couple years before the two got engaged on Aug. 26.
We’ll see if listening to the album during their prep for Week 5 provides any help to the Chiefs as they look to go over .500 for the first time this season. Kansas City got off to an 0-2 start but has since rebounded to go 2-2. A road date with the 3-1 Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football is up next.
