Dallas Mavericks big man Anthony Davis told reporters on Monday, via NBA insider Marc Stein, that he will wear protective eyewear moving forward as he recovers from offseason surgery on his eye.
Davis’ health was once again under the spotlight during the offseason when ESPN’s Shams Charania reported in July he underwent surgery to fix the detached retina he suffered during the 2024-25 campaign.
Kyrie Irving is in the process of recovering from a torn ACL, and he told reporters on Monday that he is “right on schedule”.
When healthy, Davis, Irving and No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg will be quite the trio.
When healthy, Davis is still one of the best frontcourt players in the NBA with a resume that includes a championship, five All-NBA selections, three block titles, five All-Defensive selections and 10 All-Star Game nods.
He averaged 24.7 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game last season for the Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.
