Amid an 0-3 start, Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan said his team isn’t planning more trades after the franchise dealt cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and a 2026 seventh-round draft pick to the New York Jets for a 2026 sixth-round draft choice.

“I don’t think so,” Callahan said when asked if the move potentially signaled more trades down the road (h/t ESPN’s Turron Davenport). “That was a one-off situation unique to what it was.

“There’s front offices around the league from now until the deadline that call everybody in football, and they are all looking for different things. So I can’t say whether or not there’ll be something more or nothing more. It’s hard for me to make any predictions about that or stake any statements about it.”

As for why the trade was made, Callahan didn’t offer much on the topic. Davenport provided more information from the press conference.

“Callahan said the trade will bring both short- and long-term gains, however. He said that he preferred to ‘keep those things in house’ but added that the trade wasn’t about Brownlee in particular. Instead, Callahan praised young players such as Darrell Baker Jr., Jalyn Armour-Davis and 2025 sixth-round pick Marcus Harris.”

The Titans are now 3-17 under Callahan, who was the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive coordinator before arriving in Nashville in 2024. Tennessee went 3-14 last year, got the No. 1 overall pick and selected Miami quarterback Cam Ward, who brings hope for a brighter future.

However, the present is bleak, as Tennessee is 28th in scoring and 30th in points allowed one year after finishing 27th on offense and 30th on defense. Four of the Titans’ next five games are on the road, so the Titans’ season could potentially get worse in short order.

As for Brownlee, the Titans selected him with a fifth-round draft pick in 2024. He ended up becoming a starter in Week 4 and finished the season with 75 tackles, nine pass breakups and an interception.

He started the first two games this year, racking up 17 tackles (11 solo) and a pass breakup. An ankle injury suffered in practice last week kept him out for his team’s 41-20 loss versus the Indianapolis Colts.

Now Brownlee is a Jet. Meanwhile, the Titans hope to enter the win column Sunday when they visit the Houston Texans, who have also started this year 0-3.
