Ahead of their fight in November, one of the most talked-about aspects of the bout between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis was their size difference.
Paul stood at 6’1″ and 200 pounds in his most recent fight, while Davis came in at 5’5″ and 133.8 pounds in his last fight. The size difference was on full display during their first faceoff on Monday.
Despite Paul having a significant size advantage, he thinks that a win over Davis would lead to more people taking him seriously as a boxer.
“Once I beat this guy, more people will shut up, but at the end of the day, I’m really still just getting warmed up in the sport, and I’m going to show how good I am,” he said. “This is a top-10 pound-for-pound fighter that I’m going to out-box… They’re going to be like ‘Wow, this kid is really doing something monumental in the sport and he’s actually an insane boxer.’ I’m going to show that this guy, who’s been doing it his whole life, has been doing it wrong his whole life.”
Davis shrugged off Paul’s comments.
“He said he’s gonna out-box me? Whoop-de-do,” he said.
