No. 4 Miami’s defense stifled Florida throughout a 26-7 win at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night.

Head coach Billy Napier’s squad failed to find any consistency on offense, as quarterback D.J. Lagway threw for a mere 61 yards.

For Miami, Carson Beck finished 17-of-30 for 160 yards and an interception.

Following the Hurricanes’ dominant defensive performance, fans called out Napier and his team.

With the defeat, Florida fell to 1-3 for the first time since 1986.

The Gators couldn’t consistently move the chains throughout the contest and particularly struggled early, as they were held scoreless in the first half.

While Florida initially pulled to within six points early in the third quarter due to a six-yard touchdown run from Jadan Baugh, Miami put the game out of reach with a pair of trips to the end zone in the fourth.

The Gators only recorded 141 total yards in the contest. They struggled mightily through the air and on the ground, with Lagway averaging 2.7 yards per attempt. Florida also recorded 2.8 yards per carry as a team.

The Gators failed to convert all 13 of their opportunities on third down.

While Beck dealt with some accuracy issues, Miami’s offense remained effective due to its success running the ball.

Mark Fletcher Jr. picked up 116 yards and one touchdown on 24 carries for the Hurricanes, while CharMar Brown chipped in with 80 rush yards and two scores of his own.

Miami is now 4-0 for the third straight season under head coach Mario Cristobal.
