Former two-weight world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (37-4, 21 KOs) held a press conference to preview his record 10th fight at the Brooklyn Barclays Center as he headlines a “FAREWELL TO BROOKLYN” event on Saturday, October 18 against Queens-native Daniel Gonzalez (22-4-1, 7 KOs).

The PPV event will stream exclusively on MILLIONS.co, featuring a stacked undercard, with young contender Ashton “H2O” Sylve taking on Brooklyn’s former world champion Richard Commey, as well as Brooklyn’s own Chris “Primetime” Colbert.

37-year-old Garcia and New York’s IBF American champ Gonzalez, 35, went face-to-face ahead of the event that will celebrate the fans and arena that have supported Garcia throughout his storied history of delivering memorable moments over the course of his career.

Here is what the headliners had to say on Thursday from the Barclays Center:

DANNY GARCIA

“Come October 18, I’m excited to show that I have fight left in me. My last fight didn’t go my way, but setbacks happen in boxing. I’ve always come back stronger every time. I always beat someone up bad, and that’s what I’m coming to do.

“I got a nickname for him. He says he’s the real ‘DG’ but he’s Dookie Gonzalez. And Dookie is going down. He can’t beat any version of Danny Garcia.

“For the first time in a long time, I feel like I really have a chip on my shoulder. I have to show the world again how great I really am.

“When I come to this building, I come to fight. I feel like I’m undefeated here with two controversial losses. When I’m here, I become possessed. I just want to win.

“I really feel like I have a personal connection to Brooklyn. It’s always electrifying. I love fighting here in Brooklyn.

“My last win is better than any win he’s got in his career. It’s about who you fight and come October 18 you’re gonna be in there with a different type of animal than you’ve never been with.

“I was training and I was in shape, but my heart and my soul wasn’t there leading into my last fight. That’s 85% of the sport. But now being back in Brooklyn I have the heart and spirit of a fighter and I’m ready to show it.”

DANNY GONZALEZ

“I’m coming to shock the world on October 18. I’ve been grinding for 20 years and working hard. I’ve been preparing since June for this. I want this to be his farewell to boxing, so I’m here to win.

“It’s all about hard work. I’m the hungrier fighter and that’s gonna be the difference. I’m coming to win. I’m on a streak and I’m gonna keep winning.

“Danny has no power left in him. I’m gonna bring the dog to the fight and we’re gonna see who’s got the bigger dog.

“I’m not worried about what he has to say. I’m gonna pull a Danny Garcia against Danny Garcia. I’m gonna shock the world like he did to Amir Khan. I’m gonna stop him like Erislandy Lara did in the ninth.

“I’m gonna out class him and out dog him. I’m gonna do whatever it takes to win the fight.”
