The 2025 Ryder Cup is on the horizon, with the world’s top golfers converging on Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, on Friday, Sept. 26.

After the 2025 season, the top golfers from the United States and Europe have been identified, with six automatic qualifiers securing their spots through a points system. Additionally, each team captain handpicked six more golfers to complete their squads. The U.S. team is led by Keegan Bradley, while Team Europe is captained by Luke Donald.

The three-day tournament starts Friday with four foursome matches, followed by four four-ball matches. The same format continues Saturday, Sept. 27. The competition culminates Sunday, Sept. 28, with 12 individual matches, where players from each team will go head-to-head. The first team to reach 14.5 points wins.

Ryder Cup format

The 45th Ryder Cup will kick off on Friday, Sept. 26, with foursomes (alternate shot) matches in the morning, followed by four-ball matches in the afternoon. This same schedule will be repeated on Saturday, Sept. 27. The final day, Sunday, Sept. 28, will feature 12 singles matches.

Ryder Cup scoring

The scoring system for the 2025 Ryder Cup is simple: each match is worth one point, and if a match ends in a tie, each team receives half a point (0.5 points). The competition consists of a total of 28 points, and the first team to reach 14.5 points will win. If the tournament ends in a tie at 14-14, the team that currently holds the Ryder Cup title will retain it.
