Wrexham’s defensive struggles once again proved costly as Phil Parkinson’s side slumped to defeat against QPR.

Sheaf was introduced off the bench for his debut shortly after the hour mark and impressed as the hosts looked for a route back into the contest – with Parkinson saying he thought the midfielder was “great” during his time on the pitch.

The summer recruit feels Wrexham – currently one place above the Championship’s relegation zone after five games – can climb up the table if they can tighten up at the back.

“It’s a disappointing result but personally nice for me to get out there in front of our home fans and get some minutes,” he added.

“I think when you concede the type of goals we conceded, it’s hard to come away with a win.

“Saying that, I still feel we created more than enough chances to get three points. I think once we got the first goal, you saw them drop off a little bit and we were definitely in the ascendancy, but the third goal killed us a bit.

“We’ve created some really good chances and if we tidy up and do some of the basics a bit better, I think we’ll definitely pick up some results.

“We’re still getting to know each other as players. Sometimes creating chances is the hardest thing, but we didn’t lack that today.”
