Alex de Minaur is set to make his second Laver Cup appearance after being drafted in to Team World’s squad for Frances Tiafoe.
The world no.8 will be Team World’s second-highest ranked player – behind world no.5 Taylor Fritz – for the event, held September 19-21 at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
De Minaur made his debut for Team World in 2022, when John McEnroe’s team won their first Laver Cup in London.
Now led by a different captain in Andre Agassi, Team World will be aiming for their third Laver Cup title, with Team Europe winning five of the seven editions so far.

A reason for Tiafoe’s withdrawal has not been given, but the American struggled with a back injury in the lead-up to the US Open before his third-round elimination in straight sets by unseeded Jan-Lennard Struff.
“It’s an honour to join Captain Agassi and Team World in San Francisco next week,” De Minaur said on his Team World selection.
“My first Laver Cup back in 2022 in London was an incredible experience and I will be ready to give it everything I’ve got to help the team lift the Laver Cup at Chase Center.”
De Minaur has been one of the most in-form players in men’s tennis across the last two years, reaching the quarter-finals at six of the last eight grand slams.
