MINOT — Mylee Michel is going to Fargo at the end of the month.
On Monday at Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot, the senior golfer for Jamestown High School qualified individually for the 2025 Class A State Golf Tournament, shooting an 82 to place eighth overall. The score is her best of the season.
“This meet was an individual qualifier,” JHS head coach Katie Hemmer said. “This puts a lot of extra pressure on the girls. Some handle that better than others, and learning to compete under pressure is one of the great lessons we learn from golf.”
Three of the Jays’ top-six players finished in a tie for 28th place overall. Belle Sjostrom, Braelyn Wiese and Taylor Earnest all shot a 93 in Minot. Katelyn Monson, the Jays’ No. 4 seed carded a 99 while Autumn Roberts set a new personal best of 108.
As a team, the Jays placed sixth with a score of 361. Mandan was untouchable on Monday, notching a team score of 315 which was 26 strokes better than second-place Minot North. The Blue Jays will be back in action on Sept. 15 at Hawktree Golf Course in Bismarck.
“Overall, I’m really happy to see the team progress and improve through the season,” Hemmer said. “We are in a great place to finish strong!”
