In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Liverpool are among the clubs hoping to land Brentford defender Nathan Collins. Bailey said,
“There is major interest in Collins, he has improved every season he has been in the Premier League, and I am told that the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are all major admirers.
“Collins has just been handed the captain’s armband at Brentford, but I am told his situation is one to keep an eye on in the final week.”
The 24-year-old enjoyed a decent campaign at Brentford as he produced a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive third of the field. Collins scored two goals and secured five assists in 42 appearances for the Bees last season across various competitions.
The Irish defensive ace was a solid presence at the back after he made 40 tackles, 77 blocks and 34 interceptions in the Premier League. He was even accurate with his ball distribution from inside his half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 85.9% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Brentford will expire in the summer of 2029. Therefore, the Reds would have to launch a convincing offer if they want to bring Collins to Anfield in this transfer window.
Collins is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when required and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
The Irish sensation can even use his strong 1.93m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels. He is quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Liverpool.
We can expect Collins to add more bite and steel to Arne Slot’s defence. He has what it takes to fight with Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez for a regular starting spot at the Merseyside club this season. Collins would be well worth the fight, so the Reds should consider stepping up their efforts to land him this summer.
