Joey Logano is tired of being blamed for the issues with the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. While speaking with Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic, Logano was asked about his reaction to him being used as an example of what is wrong with the playoff system.
“Yeah, it pisses me off,” Joey Logano said. “Absolutely. Ticks me off all the time. But I’m also like fine, change it. We’ll go win it again. That’s got to be your attitude with it, right?”
Bianchi then asked Logano what his reaction would be if NASCAR changed the playoff format again, and he won another Cup Series title. “That’s going to be the best one,” Logano stated. “I’m looking forward to that one. That would be the best one. The whole get out and I told you so moments does feel really, really good. That’s an extra motivator.”
Logano is the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion and has won the title two additional times in his career. What has frustrated fans about Logano is that he was inconsistent to start the 2024 season and finished the regular season 15th in Cup points. But Logano clinched a playoff spot after winning at Nashville and did enough to get through the playoffs, which included getting wins at Atlanta, Las Vegas and the championship race at Phoenix.

If Logano won the NASCAR Cup Series title again, he would be tied with Jeff Gordon for the second most in NASCAR history. “That’d really piss some people off, wouldn’t it?” Logano said at the NASCAR Cup Series Playoff Media Day on Wednesday. “Four would be incredible. Three was definitely special, and it does put you in a pretty elite group. I guess sometimes in self-reflecting a little bit, when you look at the end of your career and you say you have three championships, are you going to be happy? That’s something to be pretty proud of. I’m not going to be upset about it.
“I’m still also going to be the person to say, ‘Boy, I missed out on like four or five that I should have won,’ and still frustrated about that. Yeah, I don’t look too far ahead to what [four] would be, but gosh, it would be great. There’s always room for more.”
