NORTON, Massachusetts – For those wondering, Brooke Henderson enjoyed a cold Sprite after her epic win at the CPKC Women’s Open.

The Canadian superstar hadn’t had a “pop” in years and indulged in one at the clubhouse at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club with friends and family before heading home late Sunday night.

“I was very exhausted, but it was just, it took long time for it to sink in like, oh … we actually did this,” she told the press on Wednesday at the FM Championship.

In the immediate aftermath of her win — which snapped a two-and-a-half-year drought — Henderson wasn’t sure what she’d do this week, but ultimately decided that though she’s undoubtedly tired, it was best to keep things rolling. She’ll make her debut in the FM event at TPC Boston, where the field of 144 will compete for a purse of $4.1 million.

“Felt like it would be good for me to get back into, not reality, but get back to work and kind of focus in on the things that I need to focus on,” she said.

“So we decided to make this choice, and so we took Monday off and drove up yesterday morning. It has been very busy the last two days getting everything done and prepped for tomorrow.”

Henderson’s team hasn’t changed much over the years. Her father Dave is still her instructor; sister Brittany is still on the bag. She’s still represented by the same management company. Canada’s winningest golfer is always quick to give praise to the people around her.

There was one important person, however, who wasn’t on hand for her “dream” victory in Ontario Sunday, though he was able to catch the back nine after work in Texas. Several weeks ago, the typically private Henderson posted a photo of her beau, Ricky Castro, on Instagram. Castro is a pitcher for the Wichita Wind Surge, a minor league team affiliated with the Minnesota Twins. The couple met in Naples, Florida, where Henderson has a home, and started dating back in March.

“I feel like this life out here is pretty difficult because you travel so much,” Henderson told Golfweek. “He’s traveling a lot, I’m traveling a lot, so he really understands the lifestyle and all that it takes to perform at your best. So he’s very understanding that way, which I think is really key in a relationship out here.”

When asked if Castro played golf, Henderson laughed and said they’re working on it.

“He hits it super far, which is really impressive,” she added.

Castro hasn’t been able to get to out to an LPGA event yet, but that might change in the fall. While it’s late in the season, the now 14-time LPGA winner is reenergized for the rest of 2025.

Prior to winning in Canada, Henderson wasn’t exactly a lock for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in Naples. Now that spot is secure and she’s looking to build out her schedule in Asia before the season winds down in Florida.

A hockey player growing up, Henderson is particularly excited about playing on the new World Team at the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown in South Korea this October. She’ll play alongside Charley Hull, Lydia Ko and Wei-Ling Hsu. The World Team consists of the top-ranked player from each of the following four regions, not from a country already qualified: Europe, Asia and Africa/Oceania.

“Feel like there’s lots of good things to look forward to and lots of things to try to build the game for,” said Henderson, “and, yeah, I mean, I’m pretty pumped to put myself back in a position where I’m going to be invited to some of those things.
