All 32 NFL teams must trim their roster down to 53 players by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and the Jets announced a series of roster moves on Sunday afternoon to get closer to that number.

The team announced that they have released linebacker Jamin Davis and waived six other players: QB Adrian Martinez, DE Michael Fletcher, T Liam Forandel, TE Zach Kuntz, DB Tanner McCalister, and RB Lawrance Toafili.

Claimed off waivers by the Jets on December 31, 2024, Davis re-signed with the Jets on a one-year deal this offseason and looked to be in the running for a backup linebacker spot behind Jamien Sherwood and Quincy Williams.

Waiving Martinez is another interesting move, as he seemed to be the favorite for the third quarterback spot behind Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor. The Jets may be hoping that Martinez, who originally signed with the team last July, clears waivers and reverts to the practice squad.
