As the 2025 US Open arrives in Flushing Meadows, the last venue on tennis’ grand slam schedule, New York’s hard courts are poised to steal the show.
This year’s event has a new twist: the main-draw matches start on August 24 after the redesigned mixed doubles competition opened the show on August 19–20. At the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, 128 men and 128 women will begin a two-week race for glory, each vying for both history and trophies.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who have split the last two grand slam finals in exhausting, four-set thrillers, are the talk of the men’s division.
Aryna Sabalenka, the reigning champion, will return to the site of her biggest victory in the women’s draw with the goal of extending her slam title streak for a third consecutive year. Iga Świątek, the Wimbledon champion, and a number of other competitors who are keen to upset the status quo are in her way.
