Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions will produce its first Fight Night event, not featuring him or Amanda Serrano, on August 23. Yankiel Rivera faces Angelino Cordova for the interim WBA flyweight title.
Rivera (7-0) is number one in the WBA’s flyweight rankings. The 27-year-old, a five-time National Champion, has three wins via knockout. He recently signed with MVP and is ready to make a statement at 112.
“Fighting for the WBA interim World Championship is both an honor and another great challenge that I must face,” said Rivera. “I remember Angelino from the amateurs, although our paths never crossed.
“Angelino is an extraordinary fighter who has all my respect. I’m training accordingly, and it’ll be an honor to share the ring with him and fight for that belt.”
Cordova (19-0-1) is ranked second. The Venezuelan and Julio Cesar Martinez fought to a no-contest for the WBC flyweight title after Martinez violated anti-doping rules. Starting over, Cordova is ready to prove he deserves to hold gold.
Multiple titles are on the line on the Yankiel Rivera vs. Angelino Cordova undercard, while top prospects look to stand out.
