The next few days are set to be hectic at FC Barcelona as the club works around the clock to finalise some departures to ensure the registration of some of their unregistered players.

Oriol Romeu’s contract termination is being worked on, while efforts are being made to find a solution for Hector Fort.

Furthermore, Barcelona have also decided to listen to offers for midfield ace Marc Casado, who has no shortage of interest.

According to journalist Alex Luna, Girona have set their sights on a potential late summer swoop for Inaki Pena.

The Catalan club are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping ranks, which is understandable after Paulo Gazzaniga’s poor performance in their season-opener last Friday.

As such, Pena has emerged as a potential option for Michel & Co., should they decide to go ahead with the signing of a new shot-stopper.

While Barça initially planned to let Pena leave for free, the club have now decided to renew his contract by one more year and loan him out.

Extending his contract by a year until 2027 would spread out his salary, easing the Fair Play burden while also making his wages affordable for the club that decides to sign him.

For now, no concrete moves have been made by Girona, but they are weighing up the idea of signing a goalkeeper with Pena firmly in their sights.

Whether he follows in the footsteps of players like Eric Garcia, Pablo Torre, and Oriol Romeu and joins Barcelona’s Catalan rivals on loan remains to be seen.
