BOYS GOLF
VENICE — The Lakewood Ranch boys golf teams finished in second and fifth place in the 20-team John Ryan Venice Invitational held at Capril Isles in Venice on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025.
The Green Team came in second, losing by eight shots to Sarasota High. Medalist for the team was Donny Plakyda, who fired a one-under par 71. He was joins as match medalist with the Silver team’s Owen Gellatly, who also fired a 71 and led his team to a fifth-place finish, just 12 shots behind the Green Team. Gellatly and Plakyda tied for second individually, finishing one shot behind winner Jake MacDonald of Sarasota High.
Lakewood Ranch will play in the Brophy Rodeo Invitational in Scottsdale, Ariz., this weekend.
