For Aaron Pico, he understands that when you get knocked down, you have to get right back up. That is why the UFC featherweight prospect does not believe he will be down for long after a stunning loss.
Pico, who was in control of his UFC 319 bout with Lerone Murphy Saturday night, reflected on the final outcome hours later. Murphy caught Pico with a highlight-reel spinning back elbow to earn the win as a heavy underdog.

“Last night wasn’t my night, that’s the fight game,” Pico wrote on social media. “I’m grateful for my team, my family and everyone who continues to support me. The supporters that have been there from day one and my new supporters, I see you! Thank you.
“Wins and losses both teach lessons and I’ll come back sharper, stronger and better prepared. Thank you all who have sent messages and checked in, my health is well. Thanks for riding with me. My story is not over.”
Pico, who is just 28 years old, has been in this position before. Shortly after making his pro debut, he suffered a 24-second submission loss to Zach Freeman before working his way to a contender in Bellator.
A former standout wrestler both as a prep and on the international scene, Pico was making his UFC debut after signing with the company. He fought under the new PFL banner in February 2024, besting Henry Corrales for his third straight win at the time.
