Arizona Diamondbacks

Corbin Burnes – SP (elbow)

Burnes was pulled in the fifth inning of a game against the Nationals on June 1 with right elbow discomfort. After seeking a second opinion, he’s set to undergo Tommy John surgery and be out for the next 12 months or so.

Justin Martinez – RP (elbow)

Martinez was pulled from a game on June 9 with elbow tightness and was placed on the 15-day injured list with a UCL sprain in his right elbow. This comes shortly after the 23-year-old right-hander was sidelined with a shoulder injury. He’s now facing a 12-13 month absence, according to the team.

A.J. Puk – RP (elbow)

Puk, sidelined since mid-April with an elbow injury, underwent Tommy John surgery on Friday, June 20. The 30-year-old left-hander will now miss all of 2025 and a significant portion of the 2026 season.

Gabriel Moreno – C (hand)

Moreno had been dealing with hand soreness for over a week after taking a wild pitch off his right hand on June 6. He was placed on the 10-day injured list on June 19 and tests revealed he was dealing with a hairline fracture in his right index finger. In the latest update from the team on July 21, Moreno was still a couple of weeks away from baseball activities.

Pavin Smith – 1B/DH (oblique)

Smith was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 6 with a right oblique strain. There was no word from the team regarding the severity of the injury or a potential timeline. The 29-year-old finished the first half hitting .261/.371/.446 with eight homers, 28 RBI and two steals over 264 plate appearances.

Kevin Ginkel – RP (shoulder)

Ginkel is the latest Diamondbacks’ reliever to fall this season. A shoulder strain he sustained during the first week of August will end his season and the beginning of his 2026 season is in doubt as well without clarity on whether he will undergo surgery or simply rehab.

Athletics

Gunnar Hoglund – SP (hip)

After giving up eight runs over six innings in a start against the Blue Jays, Hoglund landed on the 15-day injured list with a left hip impingement. He underwent hip surgery on Friday, June 13, and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

Max Muncy – SS/2B (fractured hand)

Muncy suffered a fractured right hand after he was hit by a pitch against the Rangers on July 21. The Athletics placed the 22-year-old infielder on the 10-day injured list, but there’s a strong chance that his season is over. His absence likely solidifies playing time for Luis Urías.

Jacob Wilson – SS (fractured forearm)

Wilson had been dealing with lingering pain and discomfort in his hand stemming from a hit by pitch he suffered before the All-Star break. Imaging revealed a fracture in his left forearm and he was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 29, likely keeping him sidelined for at least a few weeks.

Atlanta Braves

Ronald Acuña Jr. – OF (calf)

Acuña was removed from a game against the Royals on July 29 with right Achillies tightness and placed on the 10-day injured list. It was later revealed the 27-year-old star outfielder was dealing with a Grade 1 right calf strain and is set to miss 2-3 weeks.

Austin Riley – 3B (abdominal muscle)

After missing two weeks with an abdominal strain, Riley is back on the IL with the same injury. With this being the second time he’s dealt with this injury within a month and the Braves far out of playoff contention, there will be no rush to bring him back.

Chris Sale – SP (ribs)

Sale was injured making a diving play in the infield against the Mets on June 18. He was placed on the 15-day injured list with a fractured left ribcage. The 36-year-old left-hander is looking at an extended absence, but is expected to pitch again this season. Sale played catch on July 15 as he begins his rehab process, but isn’t eligible to return until August 19.

Spencer Schwellenbach – SP (elbow)

Schwellenbach felt soreness in his right elbow following his last start on June 28 and landed on the 60-day injured list with a fractured right elbow. The 25-year-old right-hander believes his added velocity this season may have contributed to the injury. While he’ll be eligible to return in late August, there’s a strong chance his season may be over.

AJ Smith-Shawver – SP (Tommy John surgery)

Smith-Shawver left his start on May 29 against the Phillies after feeling a “pop” in his right elbow. Things progressed quickly from there as he was moved to the 60-day injured list and underwent Tommy John surgery, likely sidelining him for most of 2026.

Grant Holmes – SP (elbow)

Holmes’ season has effectively come to an end as the 29-year-old right-hander was placed on the 60-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. With his roster spot cleared, the team acquired Erick Fedde in a deal with the Cardinals. Holmes ends the season with a 3.99 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and a 123/54 K/BB ratio across 115 innings.

Baltimore Orioles

Grayson Rodriguez – SP (elbow discomfort)

Rodriguez has been sidelined since spring training with shoulder and elbow injuries. While the team was hopeful that the 25-year-old right-hander would pitch this season, he was shut down multiple times while rehabbing over the course of the season and has now officially opted for surgery ending his season. He expressed optimism that this will finally help him to avoid the consistent elbow discomfort that’s plagued him for a huge chunk of the last few seasons.

Kyle Bradish – SP (Tommy John surgery)

On the long road back from Tommy John surgery last June, Bradish has graduated from bullpen sessions to rehab starts. He worked up to 57 pitches and sat around 95 mph in his most recent outing with Triple-A Norfolk and is likely just a few weeks away from his season debut. However, don’t expect the Orioles to push him since they are far out of playoff contention.

Ryan Mountcastle – 1B (hamstring)

Mountcastle was removed from a game on May 30 with right hamstring discomfort and was officially placed on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring strain. He was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain and was expected to miss 8-12 weeks. Mountcastle began a minor league rehab assignment on July 22 and could return when eligible at the end of the month.

Zach Eflin – SP (back)

Eflin is on the IL for the second time this summer with a back injury and the team has given no timetable for his return. There’s a legitimate chance he doesn’t pitch again this season.

Félix Bautista – RP (shoulder)

After experiencing a dip in velocity over his last few outings, Bautista was placed on the injured list with what’s being described as “right shoulder discomfort” by the Orioles. He’s set to be reevaluated during the second week of August, but there doesn’t seem to be a huge rush from Baltimore to ramp him up.

Boston Red Sox

Triston Casas – 1B (knee)

Casas suffered a significant knee injury running to first base during a game on May 2 and had to be carted off the field. The 25-year-old first baseman underwent season-ending surgery to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee.

Justin Slaten – RP (shoulder)

Slaten was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation on May 29 and remains shut down from throwing. It was revealed the 27-year-old right-hander is dealing with a nerve-related issue in his neck. He resumed playing catch over the last week and could return to reinforce the Red Sox bullpen sometime in late August.

Tanner Houck – SP (forearm)

Houck was placed on the injured list on May 13th with a right flexor pronator strain. He appeared to be nearing the end of his rehab assignment before suffering a setback, experiencing renewed flexor soreness. At this point, a return this season seems unlikely.

Hunter Dobbins – SP (knee)

Dobbins left his start on July 11 against the Rays with a right knee injury he sustained while covering first base. It was later revealed the 25-year-old right-hander tore his ACL. The injury will require a significant rehab process that will keep him out until sometime in 2026.

Marcelo Mayer – 2B/3B (wrist)

Mayer was removed from a game against the Phillies on July 23 with right wrist discomfort and landed on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist sprain. While there’s no structural damage to his wrist, there’s still no clear timeline for a return.

Chicago Cubs

Javier Assad – SP (Strained Oblique)

Assad suffered a mild oblique strain in mid-February that has kept him out all season. He was transferred to the 60-day injured list in late April after experiencing a setback. After Assad was shut down for a month, he resumed a throwing program in late May and finally began a rehab assignment towards the end of July. After working up to 68 pitches with Triple-A Iowa most recently, it’s likely he’s back up with the Cubs after another week or two.

Michael Soroka – SP (shoulder)

Recently acquired from the Nationals at the trade deadline, Soroka was forced to exit his Cubs debut with shoulder discomfort. An annoying situation for all parties (besides the Nationals), there’s no telling when Soroka will be back.

Justin Steele – SP (elbow)

Steele landed on the 15-day injured list following his last start with left elbow tendinitis. After undergoing an MRI exam, it was determined the 29-year-old left-hander would need season-ending surgery on his left elbow. Steele underwent a UCL revision surgery, which is less invasive than a full Tommy John and should put him in line to return early next season.

Miguel Amaya – C (oblique)

Amaya landed on the 10-day injured list on May 25 with a left oblique strain. He was expected to miss 4-6 weeks, but just began a rehab assignment towards the end of July. That puts him on track to return to the Cubs at some point in the next week or so.

Jameson Taillon – SP (calf)

Taillon landed on the 15-day injured list on July 1 with a right calf strain and was expected to miss around a month with the injury. He threw a series of bullpen sessions in late July and made his first rehab start on August 3rd. He worked up to 64 pitches, but was hit around in the process. Look for him to be back with the Cubs after another few rehab outings.

Chicago White Sox

Miguel Vargas – 3B/OF (oblique)

Vargas was scratched from the White Sox’s game on August 2nd with oblique discomfort and was placed on the IL soon thereafter. There hasn’t been an update since on the severity of the issue.

Chase Meidroth – SS/2B (thumb)

Meidroth spent five days tending to a thumb injury before finally succumbing to the IL on August 7th. The expectation is that he’ll only be on the shelf for a week or so.

Cincinnati Reds

Hunter Greene – SP (groin)

Greene was placed back on the IL with a groin strain in early June. This is the second time this season he’s been shelved with that same injury and the Reds are being much more cautious with his rehab this time around. He’s already made three rehab starts and worked his way up to 66 pitches in his most recent with Triple-A Louisville. Yet, he’s scheduled for one more and the goal there will be to reach 80 pitches. After that, he’ll likely return to the big league squad.

Nick Lodolo – SP (blister)

Lodolo was placed on the IL during the first few days of August with a blister on his left index finger. While it seems minor, he missed more than two weeks with a blister on the same finger last season. The Reds are in a playoff push though and Lodolo’s breakout season is a huge reason why. So, he will be back on the mound the moment that blister has adequately healed.

Cleveland Guardians

Lane Thomas – OF (plantar fasciitis)

Thomas landed back on the injured list for the second time with planter fasciitis in his right foot in early July. In the latest update, the team indicated that Thomas is progressing slowly from the injury and doesn’t appear close to returning to action.

Colorado Rockies

German Marquez – SP (biceps)

Marquez was pulled from his start on July 20 with shoulder soreness. He was diagnosed with right biceps tendon inflammation and placed on the 15-day injured list and will likely miss at least a couple of weeks.

Seth Halvorsen – RP (elbow)

Halvorsen was diagnosed with a ‘mild’ flexor strain in early August, which will hold him out for a minimum of a few weeks.

Thairo Estrada – 2B (hamstring)

Estrada is making his third IL trip of the season, this time with a hamstring strain. He left the Rockies’ game on and was ruled out soon thereafter. He has no timetable to return.

Detroit Tigers

Parker Meadows – OF (quad)

Meadows was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right quad strain on July 28. There’s currently no timetable for a return but fantasy managers should expect a multi-week absence. It’s been a disappointing season for the 25-year-old outfielder, posting a .566 OPS over 137 plate appearances after missing the first two months of the season with nerve issue in his arm.

Alex Cobb – SP (hips)

Cobb has missed the entire season to this point after signing a one year, $15 million contract with the Tigers. He had a hip impingement that led to inflammation, yet began a rehab assignment on May 30th. Then, his other hip began to give him trouble and he was shut down until the last week of July. He’s still building himself up in the lower minors and likely won’t be back in the big leagues for a few more weeks as long as there are no more setbacks.

Jackson Jobe – SP (strained elbow flexor)

Jobe was placed on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 right elbow flexor strain on May 30. This comes after his velocity was notably down in his previous start against the Giants. It was determined shortly after that the 22-year-old right-hander will need to undergo Tommy John surgery, likely keeping him out until late 2026.

Reese Olson – SP (shoulder)

Olson will miss the rest of the regular season with a shoulder strain. The injury cropped up just after he returned from missing two months with inflammation in his right ring finger. He intends to return in time for the playoffs, but shoulder injuries can be fickle.

Sawyer Gipson-Long – SP (neck)

Gipson-Long landed on the 15-day injured list in early July with neck stiffness and took a couple of weeks to rest before starting a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo. He was up to 57 pitches in his last rehab start, but doesn’t have a guaranteed spot back in the Tigers’ rotation when he is healthy enough to return.

Houston Astros

Yordan Alvarez – OF/DH (hand inflammation)

Stop us if you’ve heard this before. Alvarez says his hand is feeling good after experiencing multiple setbacks. The 28-year-old slugger has progressed to hitting soft toss and was scheduled to take on-field batting practice this past week, but there’s been no update on whether that happened or not. Who knows what to think about Alvarez at this point in what’s largely been a lost season.

Isaac Paredes – 3B (hamstring)

Paredes has been placed on the 60-day IL with what the team called a ‘severe’ hamstring strain. He is nearly certain to miss the rest of the regular season

Lance McCullers Jr. – SP (blister)

McCullers made three starts back from the injured list before landing back on the 15-day IL with right finger blister on July 20. Perhaps a couple of weeks off could give the 31-year-old right-hander time to reset after he was hit hard over his three starts back.

Brandon Walter – SP (elbow)

Walter was placed on the IL with elbow inflammation on July 25th. He took just under two weeks off and then began a throwing progression on August 5th, which means he could begin a rehab assignment in the near future.

Luis Garcia – SP (Tommy John surgery)

Garcia is making progress in his return from Tommy John surgery. While he’s currently on a minor league rehab assignment in the Florida Complex League, manager Dana Brown stated Garcia is still behind fellow teammate Cristian Javier in their timeline for a return.

Cristian Javier – SP (Tommy John surgery)

Javier had Tommy John surgery last year and appears on track to return sometime soon. After months of a throwing progression and rehab appearances in the lower minors, he’s moved on to Triple-A where he worked up to 88 pitches on August 5th. He should be back with the Astros before long.

Isaac Paredes – 3B (hamstring)

Paredes was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 20 with a right hamstring strain. Manager Joe Espada later told reporters that the 26-year-old All-Star was dealing with a significant hamstring injury. Paredes is likely to be sidelined for at least two months. Houston acquired Carlos Correa from the Twins at the trade deadline, who’s projected to move to third base with the Astros.

Kansas City Royals

Kris Bubic – SP (shoulder)

Bubic reported some shoulder soreness after giving up four runs over 2 2/3 innings in his last start. He was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left rotator cuff strain and will miss the rest of the season. The 27-year-old left-hander had been enjoying a breakout season, posting a 2.55 ERA with a 116/39 K/BB ratio across 116 1/3 innings.

Jac Caglianone – 1B/OF (hamstring)

Caglianone was removed from a game against the Guardians on July 26 with left hamstring tightness and placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain. There’s no word on the severity of the injury for the 22-year-old slugger.

Cole Ragans – SP (groin strain)

The Royals ace made it off the injured list for one start and was shelved once again with a shoulder injury. The team officially placed him on the 15-day injured list on June 8 with a left rotator cuff strain and he only began to throw again in the beginning of July. He’s since been moved to the 60-day IL, which shouldn’t change his timeline much anyway since he’s yet to begin a rehab assignment.

Michael Lorenzen – SP (oblique)

Lorenzen was initially scratched from a start in mid-July with an illness, but was later placed on the 15-day IL with an oblique strain. There have been no updates on his status since.

Michael Massey – 2B (ankle, hand)

Massey has been on the injured list since early June with an ankle sprain. He rehab assignment was pause for a while after he was hit by a pitch, but he’s since returned to action and could be back with the Royals in the next week.

Los Angeles Angels

Christian Moore – 2B (thumb)

About three weeks after being called-up, Moore hit the IL with a thumb sprain in early July. He’s progressed to taking batting practice in late July and is set to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Inland Empire, putting his return in early-to-mid August.

Ben Joyce – RP (right shoulder inflammation)

After experiencing a dip in velocity in his most recent outing, Joyce was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. He experienced renewed soreness and underwent season-ending shoulder surgery.

Robert Stephenson – RP (biceps)

Stephenson had made his return from Tommy John surgery in late May but his return was short lived as he was placed on the 15-day injured list with right biceps inflammation and a stretched nerve. There is no timetable for a return. Stephenson was shifted to the 60-day injured list to open up a roster spot on July 24.

Jorge Soler – OF (back)

Soler was removed from a game against the Mets on July 23 with lower back tightness and was held out of the lineup for two days before ultimately landing on the 10-day injured list with lower back inflammation. There have been no updates on his status since.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Roki Sasaki – SP (shoulder)

Sasaki was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement on May 13, an issue he had pitched through for a few starts. He resumed throwing in late May but was shut down a few weeks later and the Dodgers have since transferred him to the 60-day IL. As of late July he began facing live hitters and is expected to return at some point this season, but remains without a timeline or clarification of role.

Tommy Edman – SS/OF (ankle)

Edman reaggravted what’s become a lingering ankle injury and was placed back on the IL on August 4th. He is not expected to be out long, but he and the team want this issue fully healed before the playoff push.

Kirby Yates – RP (back)

Yates was placed on the IL retroactive to July 29th with what the team called ‘lower pack pain’. The retroactive designation makes this seem minor, but the vagueness and lack of further updates casts doubt.

Tanner Scott – RP (elbow)

Scott left his appearance on July 21st after experiencing some discomfort in his elbow. He was placed on the 15-day IL soon thereafter and sent for an MRI that showed only inflammation. No structural damage means that he may not miss much more time than the necessary 15 days. Scott resumed throwing oin late July and threw a bullpen on August 5th. So, it shouldn’t be long until he returns.

Michael Kopech – RP (knee)

After missing the first 10 weeks of the season with a shoulder impingement, Kopech landed back on the IL after just a handful of outings with discomfort in his knee. An MRI revealed a torn meniscus, which he received surgery to repair and was since transferred to the 60-day IL. He began a throwing program just after the All-Star break and is expected to return sometime around late August or early September.

Hyeseong Kim – 2B/OF (shoulder)

Kim was placed on the IL with left shoulder bursitis on July 28th. He’d been in and out of the lineup for about a week while battling this shoulder issue, so hopefully some time off can help him get right.

Tony Gonsolin – SP (elbow)

Gonsolin was placed on the 15-day injured list on June 7 after experiencing right elbow discomfort following his last start. Manager Dave Robert stated Gonzolin’s UCL in his right elbow remains intact, but he was placed on the 60-day IL soon thereafter. The vagueness of these reports don’t inspire much confidence. He still has not resumed throwing.

Miami Marlins

Connor Norby – 3B (hand)

Norby went on the IL with what the team called wrist inflammation on July 12th. Just after that, they announced he had surgery to repair a broken hamate bone in his left hand. That surgery has about a two month recovery, so there’s a chance he does not return this season.

Ryan Weathers – SP (lat strain)

Weather left his last start on June 7 with an apparent arm injury. He was also hit by a throw on the head during warmups in between innings. He later underwent evaluation for shoulder discomfort and was placed on the 60-day injured list with a left lat strain. He threw his first bullpen session since early June on August 6 as he begins his rehab process with hopes of returning before the end of the season.

Max Meyer – SP (hip impingement)

After giving up 11 runs over his last two starts, the Marlins put Meyer on the 15-day injured list with a hip impingement on June 3. It wasn’t expected to be a long stay on the injured list, but after meeting with a specialist it was determined he’d need season-ending hip surgery. He should be ready for the start of spring training next season.

Griffin Conine – OF (shoulder)

Conine suffered a dislocated left shoulder on a slide into second base on April 19 and will undergo season-ending surgery. The 27-year-old outfielder was in the midst of a breakout season, hitting .281/.352/.438 over 71 plate appearances.

Milwaukee Brewers

Jackson Chourio – OF (hamstring)

Chourio left a game against the Cubs on July 29 with what the team called right hamstring spasms. He was held out of the lineup for a day before ultimately landing on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring. The Brewers are hoping to get the 21-year-old outfielder back in action in 2-4 weeks.

Rhys Hoskins – 1B (thumb)

Hoskins was placed on the IL with a sprained thumb in early July and has not begun to swing yet. He won’t have a timetable to return until he’s able to face live pitching. The team is hopeful to get him on a rehab assignment by late August.

Garrett Mitchell – OF (oblique strain, shoulder)

Mitchell exited a game on April 25 with left oblique tightness and was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strain. He finally began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on June 17th, but injured his shoulder during a rehab game. That injury required surgery and he will be out for the rest of the season. Milwaukee hopes he can be ready for spring training, but that’s not guaranteed.

Jordan Montgomery – SP (Tommy John surgery)

Montgomery underwent Tommy John surgery in March, the second of his career after having the procedure in 2018. The 32-year-old left-hander will miss the entire 2025 season and likely the start of 2026. He was traded along with Shelby Miller to the Brewers during the trade deadline without a return going back to Arizona.

Minnesota Twins

Pablo López – SP (shoulder)

López abruptly exited his start on Tuesday, June 3rd while warming up for the sixth inning after feeling some discomfort in his lat. After an MRI, the team announced he had a Grade 2 teres major strain in his right shoulder and has been out since then. He started a throwing program in late July, with the next steps potentially being a bullpen session followed by a rehab assignment. At this rate, we could hope to see Lopez back by the end of August.

David Festa – SP (shoulder)

After what’s been a shaky season, Festa was placed on the injured list with shoulder inflammation on July 23rd. There have been no other updates on his status.

Byron Buxton – OF (ribcage inflammation)

Buxton was removed from a game on July 26 against the Nationals with side soreness. Imagine revealed rib cartilage irritation and he was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 27 with ribcage inflammation. It looks like it could be a minimum stint for the 31-year-old outfielder.

New York Mets

Jesse Winker – OF (oblique, back)

Winker was placed on the IL with a Grade 2 oblique strain on May 5th. He came back in mid-July, played two games, and then went back on the IL with back inflammation. There had been no word as to his recovery timeline and the Mets transferred him to the 60-day IL after their flurry of moves at the trade deadline. That means the best case scenario for his return is mid-September.

Tylor Megill – SP (elbow)

Megill was placed on the 15-day IL with an elbow sprain on June 15th and it was originally reported that he’d miss about a month. Since, he’s been transferred to the 60-day IL and has only just began throwing bullpen session towards the tail-end of July. That would loosely put him on track to return in late August.

Griffin Canning – SP (torn Achilles)

Canning was removed from his start on Thursday, June 26 with a left ankle injury. It was revealed that the 29-year-old right-hander suffered a ruptured left Achilles, sidelining him for the rest of the season.

New York Yankees

Clarke Schmidt – SP (Tommy John surgery)

The oft-injured Schmidt was pulled from his start on July 3rd with forearm tightness. He was then sent for an MRI that revealed a tear in his UCL and he received Tommy John surgery. He will obviously be out for the rest of this season and likely most of the next one too.

Philadelphia Phillies

Aaron Nola – SP (ankle, oblique)

Nola went to the IL on May 15th after an ankle sprain and numerous poor starts. It took him until July 19th to throw his first competitive pitch since the ankle injury and made his first rehab start on Friday, August 1st. He was up to 69 pitches in his most recent start with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and could be in line to make his next start with the Phillies next week.

Alec Bohm – 3B (ribs)

Bohm was hit by a pitch in his ribs during a game on July 12th. He spent a week trying to play through the pain before reaggravating it and was placed on the IL soon thereafter. He began hitting off a pitching machine this week and could be set to return to the Phillies sometime in the next week.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Jared Jones – SP (elbow discomfort)

The Pirates were dealt a blow when Jones was diagnosed with a right UCL sprain in his elbow before the start of the season. The 23-year-old right-hander was placed on the 60-day injured list and underwent season-ending surgery. He could be ready to return in early 2026 following an internal brace procedure rather than a full Tommy John surgery.

Endy Rodriguez – C/1B (elbow)

Rodriguez’s return was short lived as he landed back in the injured list with right elbow discomfort. He was transferred to the 60-day injured list in mid-June and there haven’t been any updates on his status since.

San Diego Padres

Michael King – SP (shoulder)

King was scratched from a start on May 24 with right shoulder soreness and was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation soon thereafter. After a lengthy rehab process, the 31-year-old right-hander is set to make his return against the Red Sox on Saturday. He was up to 61 pitches while giving up six runs in his last rehab start with Triple-A El Paso.

San Francisco Giants

Landen Roupp – SP (elbow)

Roupp hit the IL with elbow inflammation retroactive to July 23rd and while that sounds scary, he only took about a week off from throwing and expects to return to the Giants’ rotation at some point over the next few weeks.

Seattle Mariners

Victor Robles – OF (dislocated shoulder)

Robles injured himself on an incredible play against the Giants on April 6, colliding with the wall and netting down the right-field line. The 27-year-old outfielder came away with a dislocated right shoulder. He’s finally resumed hitting and is on track to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week, potentially putting him back in the Seattle lineup by the end of August.

Bryce Miller – SP (elbow)

Miller landed on the 15-day injured list on May 14 with right elbow inflammation. It was later revealed he has been dealing with a bone spur in the back of his elbow, something he’ll pitch through all season before potentially resolving the issue in the off-season. He made two starts in his return, was ineffective, and landed back on the injured list on June 7 with elbow inflammation. He reportedly felt fine in recent bullpen sessions, touched 97 mph, and began a rehab assignment in early August. He could be just one more rehab start away from returning to the Seattle rotation, but he’ll remains a risky option through the rest of the season.

Luke Raley – 1B (back)

The Mariners placed Raley on the IL with back stiffness on July 29th. He will not have much of a role after returning either after the recent additions of Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suárez.

St. Louis Cardinals

Nolan Arenado – 3B (shoulder)

Arenado had been dealing with a shoulder issue for some time before finally landing on the 10-day injured list on August 1 with a right shoulder strain. It’s unclear how much time the 34-year-old veteran is set to miss.

Tampa Bay Rays

Shane McClanahan – SP (triceps nerve inflammation)

McClanahan, making his way back from Tommy John surgery, suffered a left arm injury during a spring training start on March 22. He was diagnosed with nerve inflammation in his left triceps and apparently had a ‘very good meeting’ with a nerve specialist in mid-June. Things went well afterwards and McClanahan began a rehab assignment in mid-July, but suffered another setback recently when his velocity fell sharply during a rehab start on July 19th. It was reported that he was feeling fatigue and it’s unknown when he will start next.

Hunter Bigge – RP (face)

In a scary moment, Bigge was hit in the face by a line drive while sitting in the dugout during the Rays’ game on June 19th. He’s been on the injured list since early May with a lat strain. Bigge underwent surgery to repair multiple facial fractures and has no timeline for a return.

Jonathan Aranda – 1B (wrist)

Aranda left the Rays’ came on July 31st after Giancarlo Stanton ran through his wrist on a close play at first base and was clearly in serious pain. The 27-year-old was diagnosed with a left wrist fracture and placed on the 10-day injured list with hopes to return before the end of the season.

Jonny DeLuca – OF (hamstring)

DeLuca was removed from a game against the Angels on Wednesday with left hamstring tightness. He’s set to hit the 10-day injured list and will likely be out for at least a couple of weeks.

Texas Rangers

Jake Burger – 1B (quad)

Burger was placed on the 10-day for the third separate time this season on July 16th with a quad strain. He’s recently taken his minor league rehab to Triple-A Round Rock and could be set to return any day now.

Tyler Mahle – SP (shoulder)

After an excellent start to his season, Mahle was placed on the IL in mid-June with shoulder soreness. He’s since been transferred to the 60-day IL. Manager Bruce Bochy stated earlier this week that the 30-year-old right-hander is still weeks away.

Cody Bradford – SP (elbow)

Bradford was shut down in mid-March with left elbow soreness and had been attempting to rehab the injury before it was determined he’d need season-ending surgery. He received the internal brace procedure in late June.

Evan Carter – OF (back)

After experiencing some back spasms, Carter was placed on the 10-day injured list on August 2. He received an injection in his back and hopes to resume baseball activities over the weekend with hopes to return sometime in the next week.

Toronto Blue Jays

Anthony Santander – OF (shoulder)

Santander has been out with a shoulder injury since late May and there’s still no timetable for him to return. He struggled to a .577 OPS before going out and the Blue Jays have caught fire since, so there isn’t much of a rush on their end to bring him back before September so he can hopefully be ready for the postseason.

Andrés Giménez – 2B (ankle)

Giménez had been battling an ankle injury through the first week of July and was placed on the IL after being unable to play through it. He started a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo and expects to get at least 20 at-bats before returning to the Blue Jays lineup early next week.

Bowden Francis – SP (shoulder)

Francis was shut down in mid-June with a shoulder impingement and was expected to miss around a month. That is, until he suffered a setback after his first bullpen session in mid-July and moved to the 60-day injured list.

Shane Bieber – SP (Tommy John surgery)

Bieber underwent Tommy John surgery early in the 2024 season. The 29-year-old right-hander resumed a minor league rehab assignment over the All-Star break after his rehab was paused by elbow soreness. He was up to 62 pitches in his last rehab start. The team wants to give him two more rehab starts before making his debut with the Blue Jays.

Washington Nationals

Dylan Crews – OF (oblique)

Crews has been out since late May with a left oblique strain. He took batting practice a handful of times in July and began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on July 29th, meaning he should be back with the Nationals after a few weeks.

Keibert Ruiz – C (concussion)

Keibert was concussed after a freak incident where a foul ball from teammate Josh Bell flew into their dugout and hit him on the side of his head. He returned rather quickly, and then went back on the 7-day IL just a few days later after still experiencing concussion-like symptoms. He has no timeline to return yet, but has been hitting off a tee and working out with the team.
