Jim Nantz Showed True Character With Ian Baker-Finch Decision originally appeared on The Spun.

CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz was a fan favorite well before he stepped up to the mic to call the final round of the 2025 Wyndham Championship. That being said, he earned even more respect by being a class act this Sunday.

Earlier this year, Ian Baker-Finch announced that he'd retire from broadcasting at the end of the PGA Tour season. During his final broadcast this Sunday afternoon, the winner of the 1991 Open Championship received plenty of kind words from legends like Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. There was also a montage narrated by CBS reporter Dottie Pepper.

"Finchy, a major champion, we all know that. What everyone else might not know is you're a major human being," Pepper said. "You've taken care of this crew. You've been a mentor, a teacher, a big brother – so many things to so many people. Gosh, we're going to miss you."

The only way CBS could complete this emotional broadcast was by letting Baker-Finch call Cameron Young's tournament-sealing putt on the 18th hole.

Even though Nantz usually gets the final call, he was more than willing to give up the spotlight.

Countless golf fans applauded Nantz for letting "Finchy" call the final hole at the Wyndham Championship.

"Why Jim Nantz is a legend. He lets Ian Baker-Finch call his final hole as a golf broadcaster," one fan said. "Two of the best at their craft. So long, Finch. And congrats to Cameron Young. Finally has that PGA Tour win. He becomes the 1000th different man to win an event on the Tour."

"Very classy move by Jim Nantz to let Baker-Finch call Young's winning putt today….," a second fan wrote on X.

"In Finchy's retirement we celebrate a life given to golf and to us as couch participants but it also reminds us of the power of Jim Nantz," a third fan commented.

That right there is a moment Baker-Finch will never forget, so kudos to Nantz for being a team player.

Congratulations to Baker-Finch on an incredible career in the broadcast booth. We can't wait to see what's next for him.
