“Very frustrating… I don’t want to say I’ve got to play perfect, but I’ve got to be better… We’re 3-3, six games under us, a long season to go… We need to look in the mirror and figure out how we can be… pic.twitter.com/aeCjRn0gJj

“We need to look in the mirror and figure out how we can be better for this team,” Prescott said.

He added that he’s “not a guy to hit the panic button,” though.

Prescott finished 17-of-33 for 178 yards and two interceptions without recording a touchdown. He was sacked four times.

The Cowboys also didn’t give him much help, rushing for 53 yards on 17 attempts as a team. Dallas’ defense struggled to stop Jared Goff and Detroit’s offensive attack, giving up 492 yards and allowing the Lions to gain 27 first downs.

Prescott still took responsibility for his performance.

“I’ve got to play better, better than I did,” Prescott said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

The Cowboys were missing several key defensive starters against Detroit such as Micah Parsons, DaRon Bland and DeMarcus Lawrence. It doesn’t excuse a string of poor performances on the offensive side of the ball, though.

After boasting the league’s top scoring offense during the 2023 season with an average of 29.9 points per game, Dallas is averaging just 21 points per game through six weeks to open its 2024 campaign.

Prescott has completed 63.4 percent of his throws for 1,602 yards to begin the season, but he’s thrown eight touchdown passes compared to six interceptions. He’s also fumbled the ball four times in six starts after recording four fumbles during his entire 2023 season.

The Cowboys will need to make improvements during their upcoming Week 7 bye before they’ll travel to face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8.
