BROOKINGS — Following a quick turnaround from the South Dakota Golf Association’s Junior Tour stop on Tuesday, Tyndall’s Michael Branaugh was ready to play on Thursday.

Branaugh shot a 6-over 78 en route to a sixth-place finish in the boys 14-15 division during the SDGA’s southeast stop at Brookings Country Club, which plays as a par-72. Branaugh tallied one birdie and 10 pars on his card, shooting 39 on both nines.

Howard’s Westyn Kizer shot a 91 to finish in 18th place in the division. Elijah Winn, of Marshall, Minnesota, fired a 2-over 74 to secure the championship by one stroke over Brandon’s Cooper Shuman.

In the boys 16-18 division, Wessington Springs’ Heyns Bothma came in 27th place following a round of 90. Harrisburg’s Connor Tank carded six birdies against one double bogey, winning the division with a 4-under 68.

Other 18-hole division winners include Flandreau’s Tori Peterson, who shot an 86 to win the girls 16-18 division title. Waubay’s Sage Gaikowski won the girls 14-15 division with a 94, Brookings product Jack Baszler was victorious in the boys 12-13 division following an even-par 72 and Vermillion’s Brynlee Baedke won the girls 12-13 division with a 94.

In the nine-hole divisions, Sioux Falls’ Hank Carlson shot a 1-over 37 to win the boys 10-11 division. Watertown’s Paisley Neale shot a 54 en route to the girls 10-11 division crown, Dell Rapids’ Carter Bacon fired a 45 to win the boys under-9 and Hartford’s Merrick Boyden shot a 52 to claim the girls under-9 division title.

The next southeast Junior Tour stop is on Wednesday, July 9, at Two Rivers Golf Club in Dakota Dunes.
