WIMBLEDON, LONDON — All eyes will be on British star Dan Evans on Centre Court today as he looks to cause another huge upset by beating seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic to advance to the third round.
In a tournament that has already seen plenty of shocks, especially in the women’s draw, the world No.154 will hope to put a stop to Djokovic’s quest for a record 25th grand slam and capitalise on some concerns the Serb showed in his opening match.
The 38-year-old beat Alexandre Muller 6-1, 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-2 but twice called for the doctor during the third set with suggestions he was struggling with a stomach bug.
Evans also has the psychological advantage of beating him the only time they’ve previously met, four years ago in Monte Carlo on the ATP Tour.
