A 21-car wreck in the first 100 laps of the Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at EchoPark Speedway on June 28 flipped the NASCAR in-season tournament on its head.
1-seed Denny Hamlin, 2-seed Chase Briscoe and others were knocked out of the race in the major crash on Saturday, and out of the in-season tournament in the first round.
Chase Elliott is advancing via his win at Atlanta, locking into the NASCAR playoffs and into a second-round matchup against John Hunter Nemechek next week in Chicago.
