For Christopher Ewert, his time as a fighter for the UFC is over after just a few short days. Ewert was set to compete Saturday night at UFC 317 on the prelims vs. Jackson McVey.
Signed just days ago to replace Sedriques Dumas, Ewert was unable to come anywhere close to making weight for his middleweight bout with McVey. After coming in 10 pounds heavy for the 185-pound division, he was cut by the promotion.

Despite not having a bout, McVey did successfully weight-in. Officials are working to get him a replacement fight as soon as possible.
UFC 317 is set to take place Saturday from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In the main event, Ilia Topuria seeks lightweight gold against former champion Charles Oliveira.
Topuria, a former featherweight titleholder, vacated the belt to move up. The card also has a flyweight title fight in the co-main event with champion Alexandre Pantoja defending against Kai Kara-France.
