Chase Yenser, a Daniel Boone High School rising senior who was representing Reading Country Club, won the 82nd Pa. Junior Golf Amateur Championship on Tuesday at Hershey Country Club.

Yenser shot a 135 total for the two-round tournament to win by two strokes over Freddy Hartmann of Overbrook Golf Club.

Yenser shot a 65 in Monday’s first round to take a three-stroke lead over Hartmann. He had seven birdies in his first round, including five on the back nine of the par-71 course.

On Tuesday, he had two birdies, both on the front nine, enroute to carding a one-under par 70.

Yenser finished in a tie for second place last fall in the PIAA Class 3A golf tourney at Penn State. He shot 138 in the state tournament to finish two strokes behind Fox Chapel’s Chase Kittsley, who will be a junior this fall.

Yenser turned the tables on Kittsley in the Junior Amateur, with Kittsley finishing tied for eighth with a score of 143.

In the two-day junior girls tournament, also at Hershey Country Club, Kyla Quimby of Berkshire County Club finished tied for 23rd with a two-round score of 159.

Giulia Weisser of Reading Country Club tied for 38th with a 170.

Alaina Carson of GAP Youth on Course won by two strokes, shooting 141.
