NASCAR Team Member Fired For Mexico City Comments originally appeared on The Spun.

Meet NASCAR’s New Danica Patrick (1:28)

A NASCAR Cup Series team member has reportedly been fired for what he said about Mexico City.

The NASCAR Cup Series held its first ever race in Mexico City last weekend. The race was successful, with tens of thousands of fans coming out for the race. However, for one NASCAR Cup Series team member, it was the final race of the season.

Tab Boyd, a spotter for Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s team, did not have a good time in Mexico City. He apparently got scammed outside of his hotel and expressed his displeasure.

"I'm ready to go home, screw this place, people can talk it up all they want…can't even walk out the front door of the hotel without getting hustled and money snatched…in less than 5 minutes. Good area my (expletive)," he reportedly shared on social media over the weekend.

Boyd is now reportedly out of a job.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. confirmed that Tab had been let go last week.

"You know, obviously, that's an unfortunate deal. The team let Tab Body go this week, and we got Clayton Hughes to come fill in. I've never worked with Clayton. You know, obviously, I think the concern for me is trying to get on the same page as quickly as we can knowing that, like you said, the schedule coming up, going to Atlanta next week could be a very important race for our team and trying to get us into the Playoffs and put us in the right position."

Longtime NASCAR reporter Jeff Gluck addressed his firing on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Just as I loved the Mexico City trip, I’m fully aware not everyone had the same experience. No, it wasn’t smart to have a post that embarrassed NASCAR since critics were already looking to seize upon any red meat that cast the race in a bad light. But Tab Boyd didn’t say anything racist or hateful," he wrote on X.

"He apparently got scammed (don’t know the exact details) and was upset about it. I cringed when I saw his post, but didn’t think he’d get fired for it. Maybe not relevant here, but Tab Boyd also happens to be a really nice guy with a great family, so guess I just hate to see this in general."

NASCAR's Cup Series is set to arrive in Atlanta, Georgia this weekend, for the Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart.
