Meet NASCAR’s New Danica Patrick (1:28)

A NASCAR team member was reportedly fired for what he said about Mexico City.

The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series arrived in Mexico City earlier this month, for the first ever race in the country. While the race and weekend were seen as successful, one team member did not have a good time.

A spotter for NASCAR Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. bashed Mexico City after he was scammed outside of his hotel. Tab Boyd, a spotter for Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s team, claims that he was scammed and hustled out of money outside his hotel.

"I'm ready to go home, screw this place, people can talk it up all they want…can't even walk out the front door of the hotel without getting hustled and money snatched…in less than 5 minutes. Good area my (expletive)," he reportedly shared on social media over the weekend.

He has since been fired.

Stenhouse Jr. confirmed that Boyd had been let go.

"You know, obviously, that's an unfortunate deal. The team let Tab Body go this week, and we got Clayton Hughes to come fill in. I've never worked with Clayton. You know, obviously, I think the concern for me is trying to get on the same page as quickly as we can knowing that, like you said, the schedule coming up, going to Atlanta next week could be a very important race for our team and trying to get us into the Playoffs and put us in the right position," he wrote.

NASCAR, meanwhile, is taking some heat for the decision, though it was surely a team one.

"Pathetic," one fan wrote.

"Insane, now rooting exclusively for Hocevar," one fan added.

"NASCAR and gutless team owners! Why does anyone watch NASCAR?" one fan added.

"Actively rooting against them now," one fan added.

"His opinion is valid and shouldn’t be fired for that. However, he wasn’t a good spotter (at least this season) imo," one fan added.

Not everyone was bothered, though.

"Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. I guarantee this wasn’t an isolated incident or the first time he’s exposed himself. Good riddance," one fan added.

What do you make of NASCAR's decision to let go of the team spotter?
