Daniel Suarez is winner Saturday

Daniel Suarez held off Taylor Gray in a late restart to win in the first NASCAR Xfinity Series race in his home country since 2008, The Chilango 150 on June 14 at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City.

Suarez started last after crashing his No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet in qualifying earlier in the day, then advanced into the top 15 after the first stage and into the top 10 by the end of Stage 2.

Connor Zilisch and Ty Gibbs controlled the first two stages of the race but had their hopes dashed by an incident on the first restart of the final stage. That sequence vaulted Suarez to the lead, which he held for the final 19 laps.

Gibbs finished in 14th, while Zilisch recovered to 5th.
