Ryan Fox’s Epic Canadian Open Playoff Win Draws Strong Message From PGA Tour originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Ryan Fox lifted the RBC Canadian Open trophy on Sunday after a hard-fought battle with Sam Burns. He secured the victory on the fourth playoff hole with a birdie. It’s his second PGA win in five weeks, and it also earned him a spot in the U.S. Open this week.

After his epic win, PGA Tour responded with a strong message. They uploaded a picture of Fox with the trophy with a caption, “Etching his name in Canadian golf history🏆”.

In the fourth round, Fox carded a 4-under 66, including a clutch birdie from 17 feet on the par-5 18th, to join Burns at 18-under.

During playoffs, after two scrappy holes, Fox ripped a 259-yard fairway wood on the 18th to leave himself less than 10 feet for birdie, while Burns found trouble and ultimately three-putted for par, handing Fox the title on hole four.

“To be honest, Sam and I had a bit of a pillow fight for three holes,” Fox said. “But that shot I hit on 18, that 3-wood, was probably the best shot I’ve ever hit. It would have been nice to make the putt. But hey, I’ll take it.”

The champion earned a total of $1.7 million. His wife, Anneke Ryff, and their daughters were there to watch him play the final round.

A special moment featuring his daughters was highlighted when they began playing in the bunker as their dad delivered his speech on stage after the win. PGA Tour captured that moment, saying, “No bunker is safe around the Fox family 😂”.
