Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O’Malley 2 for UFC bantamweight gold highlights a stacked UFC 316 fight card.
Below is all the information you need to catch UFC 316, including when the pay-per-view starts.
UFC 316 start time
- Date: Saturday, June 7
- Time: 10 p.m. ET (8 p.m. ET for prelims) | 7 p.m. PT
- Location: Prudential Center – Newark, New Jersey
UFC 316 is in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Home to the New Jersey Devils, “The Rock” can hold up to 19,500 people. The early prelims start at 6:30 p.m. ET, while the prelims are at 8 p.m. ET. The main card starts at 10 p.m. ET, and Dvalishvili and O’Malley should make their way to the octagon around 12:45 a.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
Dvalishvili (19-4) beat O’Malley (18-2, 1 NC) at The Sphere to win the UFC bantamweight title, ending O’Malley’s seven-fight unbeaten streak. The new champion has since won his twelfth straight contest. O’Malley recently had surgery and is ready to regain gold in New Jersey.
The co-main event will see Julianna Pena defend the UFC bantamweight title against Kayla Harrison.
Winner of The Ultimate Fighter 18, Pena (12-5) shocked the world when she beat Amanda Nunes in 2021 to win gold. After losing the belt, she regained it against Raquel Pennington.
Pena has called Harrison out for PED use in the build up to this fight. While Harrison is a world-class grappler, Pena believes that, like she did against Nunes, she will surprise on the floor and force Harrison to give up on fight night.
“I’m going to win. I am going to get my hand raised. I’m going to enforce my will upon her and eventually wear her out. I’m looking for a submission victory. I’m saying round four, but maybe it’ll come sooner,” Pena said via DAZN.
Harrison (18-1) is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and multi-time PFL champion. The judo expert beat former champion Holly Holm and contender Ketlen Vieira to earn a shot at gold.
While she has defended herself against the accusations, the 34-year-old Harrison is more focused on competing. She believes Pena won’t back up the trash talk when they step inside the cage.
“I think it just, for me, it kind of screams insecurity,” Harrison told MMA Fighting. “When I see her talk or when I hear her some of the stuff she says, I feel like it’s fear. And it’s not personal for me. She could say whatever she wants about me. At the end of the day, we get locked in a cage, and that’s where I’m gonna do my talking.”
