Coco Gauff and Madison Keys meet in an all-American French Open quarterfinal at Roland-Garros.
Grand slam winners Gauff and Keys are first on Court Philippe-Chatrier on Wednesday as they each pursue a maiden title on Paris’ storied clay courts.
Gauff, the 2023 US Open champion, has been in sensational form at Roland-Garros and demolished Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-0, 7-5 in the previous round.
Keys is looking to go two for two in slams in 2025, having finally made the breakthrough at this year’s Australian Open.
The 30-year-old also faced a compatriot in round four, where she overcame Hailey Baptiste 6-3 7-5.
Although Gauff, the 21-year-old No. 2 seed, goes into this match as the favourite, Keyes has a 3-2 edge in their overall head-to-head. This includes a three-set win at last year’s Madrid Open, their only previous meeting on clay.
The Sporting News is following Keys vs. Gauff live and is providing game-by-game updates.

Madison Keys vs. Coco Gauff live updates, highlights from Roland-Garros 2024 French Open women’s tennis singles
10:50 a.m. CET/ 4:50 a.m ET: The first women’s singles semifinal is already set, with top seed Aryna Sabalenka meeting four-time winner and defending champion Iga Swiatek in a blockbuster clash. The winner of Keys vs. Gauff will face either Mirra Andreeva or home hope Lois Boisson, the world 361 who has enjoyed an incredible run at Roland-Garros.
10:30 a.m. CET/ 4:30 a.m ET: Frances Tiafoe recently described Gauff as “Little Miss Mature”. Instead of decrying the lamest nickname ever given to anyone, Coco was happy to take the compliment.
Most people do say I’m mature. I feel like playing tennis forces you to grow up faster. When I was in school, I would always be the first one to class. I remember getting on the yellow for the behaviour chart once, and that was like the worst day of my life. I’m definitely someone that prides myself on being a good example.
10:10 a.m. CET/ 4:10 a.m ET: The match against Kenin is the only time Keys has dropped a set at Roland-Garros this year but it almost got much worse for her than that as she was forced to save three match points. Will having to go to the well in that manner serve her well against Gauff today?
9:50 a.m. CET/ 3:50 a.m ET: This really is an intriguing match-up. Gauff has been in brilliant form over the past week and a half. The 21-year-old is yet to drop a set and demolished 20th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-0, 7-5 in the Round of 16. This is Keys’ third consecutive showdown with a fellow American, having beaten Hailey Baptiste last time out after overcoming Sofia Kenin in three sets in the third round. Australian Open champion Keys holds a 3-2 head-to-head advantage over Gauff, who is nine years her junior, and won their only previous meeting on clay in Madrid last year.
9:30 a.m. CET/ 3:30 a.m ET: Hello and welcome to The Sporting News’ live coverage of the all-American French Open quarterfinal between Madison Keys and Coco Gauff at Roland-Garos. Keys and Gauff are starting bright and breezy on Wednesday, first on Court Philippe-Chatrier. A tip of the hat to you if you’re joining us Stateside at this time.
