After receiving a pit-road speeding penalty at the end of Stage 2, Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron bounced back in NASCAR Overtime, passing JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier to win the Xfinity Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Once Byron got stuck in traffic, following the penalty, he struggled to make his way back toward the front of the field. But multiple late-race cautions allowed him to close the gap and capitalize in overtime for his fifth career Xfinity Series victory.

Byron also swept both stages and led 71 laps in his final scheduled start in the No. 17 Chevrolet this year.
