AS Monaco have shown interest in signing Ansu Fati from Barcelona (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
The 22-year-old has struggled for game time under Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.
Injuries have stalled the winger’s development in recent seasons. Fati had high expectations placed on him when he broke into Barcelona’s first team at 16.
However, regular fitness issues have held him back. His loan move to Brighton & Hove Albion in the 2023/24 season did not go as planned.
The Spaniard featured in limited matches and could not make an mpact during his time in England.
Barcelona open to Fati sale as Monaco prepare offer
Barcelona are considering selling Fati this summer to raise funds.
Fati has made only 11 appearances this season, playing a total of 298 minutes. He has been unable to convince Flick that he deserves more opportunities.
Monaco finished third in Ligue 1, securing a place in next season’s Champions League. They are eager to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead.
Fati would give them more depth and attacking options. The club know they must improve in all areas to compete at a higher level.
Although Fati has not lived up to early expectations, Monaco believe he still has the talent to succeed. A fresh start in France may be what he needs to revive his career.
Monaco are expected to begin talks soon.
