Italy and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon is unsure his ex-teammate Antonio Conte will return to Turin next season: ‘It’s not as straightforward as people are making it seem.’
Conte is about to finish his first season at Napoli and may become the first coach to win the Serie A title with three different clubs.
However, despite a contract expiring in June 2027, he’s already been linked with a return to Juventus as the Bianconeri need to build solid foundations after a struggling season.
“It’s normal for coaches like him to be linked with prestigious clubs. But it’s not as straightforward as people are making it seem,” Buffon told ANSA.
“Antonio hasn’t revealed anything and is only focused on completing the mission with Napoli.”
Conte’s Napoli will host Cagliari in the last game of the season, while their Scudetto rivals Inter will visit Como before preparing for a Champions League Final against PSG.
Buffon surprised if Napoli miss out on Serie A title

“Congratulations to Inter regardless, for their accomplishments in Serie A and the Champions League,” Buffon added.
“I’m confident about the Final because Inzaghi has proved he knows how to prepare for single-leg ties.”
The 2006 Italy World Cup winner, a former Conte teammate at Juventus, would be surprised if the Partenopei waste their chance against Cagliari on Friday.
“It’s a thrilling season, and if there were to be another surprise, it would be incredible,” the ex-goalkeeper and current Italy Delegation Chief concluded.
“As Conte said, Napoli have the bone on their mouths and it won’t be easy to let it go.”
