The 2024 All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro was won by Joey Logano but no one was talking about the Team Penske driver’s win afterward but the brawl between Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. that broke out in the garage. That frustration was all a byproduct of short-track racing.
Unsurprisingly, on Sunday in the 2025 version, those frustrations bubbled up yet again. Except this time it came one race earlier during the All-Star Open.
Multiple drivers were frustrated with each other after the 100-lap race, but the most notable occurred between Ty Dillon and Zane Smith. That’s because after the race the Kaulig Racing driver had a brief conversation with the Front Row Motorsports driver on pit road.
A short time later, the No. 10 driver was questioned about what was said.
“Coming off 4, I think I gave him plenty of room and he just doored me about halfway down the straightaway,” Dillon said. “I get right-reared by (Austin) Cindric. I pass him at Martinsville and he shipped me off in the corner.
Ain’t beating nobody’s ass.

“I don’t know. There’s something about the younger guys in the sport now. They’ve never had to deal with consequences. What I told him was if he wrecks me again I’m just going to beat his ass.”
Smith saw Dillon’s comments and responded to them later on X.
“Ain’t beating nobody’s ass,” he succinctly replied.
Is it over? Both drivers return to the track next Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600. Race coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on Prime.
