Scottie Scheffler and wife Meredith Scheffler have been open about their shared Christian faith. Scottie has often referenced his faith as a calming influence on his golf game.Â
The star golfer admitted to being nervous hours before the final round of the 2022 Masters. It would end up being Scottie’s first green jacket secured, a reality that may not have happened without a bit of a pep talk from Meredith reminding the golfer of his faith.Â
“She told me, ‘Who are you to say that you are not ready? Who am I to say that I know what’s best for my life?'” Scottie recalled his wife’s words during an April 2024 media session, per Southern Living. “We talked about that God is in control and that the Lord is leading me. And if today is my time, then it’s my time.”
A lot has changed since Scottie won his first Masters. The star has emerged as the best golfer in the world, and the couple just celebrated their son Bennett’s first birthday. Now, the couple is leaning on this same faith as parents.

“One whole year with our little man!” Scottie noted in a May 9, Instagram post featuring a photo of himself, Meredith and son at the Masters Par-3 Tournament.Â
We spent 30 mins with Meredith Scheffler on Wednesday. Nicest, most unassuming person. Was going nuts for Scottie when he came through in a practice round. Asked me to video him skipping balls on 16 and send to her.

As for Meredith’s infamous pep talk in 2022, Scottie admitted to being “so stressed out” before winning his first Masters.
“For me, my identity isn’t a golf score.”

“I cried like a baby this morning,” Scottie recalled. “I was so stressed out. I didn’t know what to do. I was sitting there telling Meredith, ‘I don’t think I’m ready for this. I’m not ready—I don’t feel like I’m ready for this kind of stuff.’ And I just felt overwhelmed.”
