NEW LONDON — The New London-Spicer boys golf team easily won the Wright Conference West Division championship on Thursday at Little Crow Country Club.

The Wildcats finished with a two-day score of 607, finishing with a 308 after shooting 299 on Wednesday on Day 1 of the tournament at Little Crow.

Watertown-Mayer finished second with 642 strokes. Litchfield was sixth at 683.

NLS sophomore Eli Engebretson emerged with the overall tournament title, shooting 147. That was one stroke better than Wildcats junior Gabe Truscinski, who shot a 148. NLS seventh-grader Max Truscinski carded a 158 to finish third.

NLS senior Blake Kath took sixth with a 157 and sophomore Reid Kath finished ninth with a 160. Luke Hannig, another NLS sophomore, tied for 11th with Litchfield senior Ty Olson and NLS junior Palmer Dalton. Each shot 163.

NLS is scheduled to play in a large invitational that begins at 1 p.m. Monday at Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista. Teams competing include Litchfield.

 The New London-Spicer girls captured the two-day Wright County Conference West Division championship with a 710 at Litchfield Golf Club.

NLS beat second-place Glencoe-Silver Lake by 28 strokes. Litchfield finished fifth with a 776.

Wildcats junior Rylie Harrier won the individual title with a two-day 157. She shot 82 on Wednesday at Litchfield and followed that up with a 75 in the final round.

NLS eighth-grader Evangeline Dalton was fifth with a 168, shooting rounds of 86 and 82.

Litchfield senior Kate Brekke finished tied for ninth with a 186 and NLS junior Hattie Bohlsen was 11th with a 190.

NLS competes in an invitational at 10 a.m. Monday at Albion Ridges Golf Course in Annandale. Litchfield also is in the field.

Paynesville’s 163 bested Royalton’s 197 to win the team title at a Central Minnesota Conference meet at Kimball Golf Course.

The Bulldogs were led by eighth-grader Peyton Roeske. She placed third with 49. Fellow eighth-grader Kinley Barten was fourth with 51.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City junior Brooke Brekke took medalist honors with an eight-over par 44.

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa’s Kragen Wiener placed fifth with 62.
