So far, so good as Illinois looks to advance to the men’s golf national championships once again.
Illinois, hosting a NCAA Regional for the first time, had a historic day in Monday’s opening round.
Senior Jackson Buchanan recorded a course-record round of 63 (-8) as Illinois posted the best team score on day one (-7).
Only three other teams finished under-par of the 13 teams competing. The top five will advance to the NCAA Championship later this month.
Round two of three is Tuesday morning. Tee times at Atkins Golf Club start at 8 a.m.
