Paris Saint-Germain face a big question—one that may have caught the attention of Pep Guardiola and Manchester City: Is Gianluigi Donnarumma still their long-term answer in goal?

His contract runs through 2026, but with top clubs circling, PSG’s decision is becoming more urgent. Since joining from AC Milan in 2021, Donnarumma has delivered big moments, including crucial penalty saves and stops.

But his time in Paris hasn’t been smooth sailing. Costly errors, particularly the one against Real Madrid in 2022, continue to raise concerns about his trustworthiness in critical moments.

PSG must decide if Donnarumma’s key role in the Champions League final justifies his future as No. 1. Top European clubs are noticing. If he shines on the biggest stage and hits free agency, options await.

Former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown commented on rumors that Manchester City may target Donnarumma. He could replace Ederson if the goalkeeper departs this summer.

“Donnarumma is at the very top of his game at PSG,” Brown told Football Insider. “He’s happy there, playing a key role in getting them to the Champions League final, and he’s a regular for Italy as well.

“So the only thing that’s going to make him move away from there is money – they’d have to offer him an increase on what he’s on at PSG.

“It would be up to Man City to come up with that offer and make that move happen, a move that would rank as a shock in some quarters. He’s not the only goalkeeper they’ve been looking at, but he’s definitely a target.

“He’s one of the top three in the world, as far as I’m concerned, so of course he’ll be on their list. That’s the type of player Man City want to bring in, they have a few positions they want to improve and they want to bring in the best players for those positions.“

A recent report from Fichajes suggests that Manchester United is among the clubs closely monitoring Italian international Gianluigi Donnarumma.

However, The Mirror has reported that Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is committed to staying at Old Trafford and fighting for his place.

Despite questions about his future and speculation that the club is exploring new goalkeeper options, Onana is reportedly staying.

Journalist Alfredo Pedullà has also shared that Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Juventus are all interested in Donnarumma, who could be on the move this summer if Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t offer him a contract extension.
