Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka are tied for the first position in the Truist Championship before playing the final round on Sunday. They are closely followed by Keith Mitchell and Justin Thomas, tied in third.
But before play commenced at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, Sahith Theegala, with $19 million in winnings, officially withdrew from the Truist Championship due to an aggravating neck injury. After opening with rounds of 69 and 71, Theegala’s 3-over 39 on the front nine and 5-over 39 on the back forced his decision to bow out before teeing off on Sunday.
This marks the second time in recent seasons that Theegala has been hampered by a soft-tissue issue, following a rib injury sustained in a tournament cart last year. The 27-year-old, who turned professional in 2020, will now focus on rehabilitating his neck ahead of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.
Theegala’s season has been marked by inconsistency, with just two top-25 finishes in 13 starts entering the week.

Last year, he slipped a rib beneath his shoulder blade during a cart exit, an injury that required aggressive chiropractic adjustments and sidelined him briefly before he rebounded to finish T-52 at a signature event.
His decision to withdraw stresses the importance of preserving his health for the season’s marquee events, where he has yet to secure his breakthrough on the PGA Tour.
