The Oneflight Myrtle Beach Classic was one last chance for someone in the 132-golfer field who was not already in the PGA Championship to punch a ticket to the second men’s major of 2025.

Friday evening, those dreams ended for roughly half the field after the cut came in at 2 under.

The leaders are at 10 under after 36 holes, so being eight shots back wasn’t not the worst thing in the world but being nine shots back was one too many.

This event did feature a father-son combo, although the didn’t play together. Chalk one up for the son, as Jackson Byrd, a freshman at Clemson, shot 69-70 and is 3 under and inside the cutline as an amateur in the field. He was two shots better than his dad, PGA Tour veteran Jonathan Byrd, who finished 1 under (72, 69).

Among the other notables packing up early in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina:

  • Kevin Kisner, 1 under (71, 70)
  • Davis Riley, even (73, 69)
  • Aldrich Potgieter, even (68, 74)
  • Peter Malnati, even (73, 69)
  • Camilo Villegas, 1 over (74, 69)
  • Joel Dahman, 3 over (71, 74)
