FORT WORTH, Texas–A late race charge and an overtime finish saw Joey Logano triumphant at Texas Motor Speedway.

With multiple cautions in the closing laps of the NASCAR Cup Series race, Joey Logano focused on passing cars one by one during the green flag sprints and found himself in prime position during the last handful of restarts. On the exit of Turn 2, Logano squared up Michael McDowell for a crossover move down the backstretch to take the lead going into Turn 3. During the overtime finish, he was able to clear his Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney to win Sunday’s Würth 400.

“The sport changes so quickly,” Logano said after a struggling start to the 2025 season with no top fives and one top 10 prior to Fort Worth. “It’s crazy how you can just ride these roller coasters and just proud of the team. Finally get AAA Insurance into victory lane. They’ve been a partner of mine since I’ve been to Penske, so, 13, 14 years. I’ve yet to win with them. It was awesome to get that done here.”

Logano, 34, credited the perseverance of his pit crew that kept him in the hunt and win his 37th race in his 17th full-time year in the Cup Series. It also extends his win streak to 14 consecutive seasons.

“We had a really tough pit stall situation,” Logano continued. “The pit crew did a good job of managing that and just grabbed a couple here and there. The car was fast. I knew that yesterday.”

Chastain was able to pass Blaney but ran out of time as he was the second car to take the checkered flag.

“Just no confidence in the car yesterday,” explained the Trackhouse Racing driver. “Y’all saw that. Just the speed of the Trackhouse cars on Saturdays is just terrible. We’re just not confident, all three drivers. So there was one pit stop today that Phil Surgen and the group — it takes a ton of people back at Trackhouse and on the box here in GM at Chevrolet. They made me a confident driver all of a sudden with one adjustment. So as soon as they got it comfortable or at least gave me some confidence, we started going forward.”

Blaney dropped to third after being on the front row for the final restart. While it was a sigh of relief for his fans to finally watch their driver finish a race strong after having four DNF’s in the last seven races, the unlucky side of things came down to lane choice on the restarts that put him in the wrong position at the wrong time.

“The one time I didn’t pick the outside, the 71 (McDowell) gets the lead, and then I couldn’t get it back,” Blaney reflected on the penultimate restart. “Just driver making dumb decisions and not doing his job, so appreciate the 12 car was a fast car. Just can’t do nothing right currently, so hopefully it will work itself out.”

Kyle Larson led the most laps, 90, but lost the lead to McDowell on the restart after the ninth caution. The Hendrick Motorsports driver wasn’t able to regain the lead, finishing fourth for his seventh top five of the year.

“You don’t want to give up the lead on a mile and a half. It’s hard to get it back. Yeah, Michael just did a good job timing it. I left early the restart before and was going to leave early again then. He just anticipated and left probably right with me or just barely before, and he had Reddick pushing him behind him. So, yeah, wish I could go back and do that all over again.”

Erik Jones finished fifth in his 300th career Cup Series start, his first top five at a non-drafting track since Kansas Speedway in 2023, 53 races ago.

“That’s a long time,” Jones chuckled when told about his statistic.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Austin Dillon finish sixth and seventh, respectively. John Hunter Nemechek finished eighth, giving Legacy Motor Club two top 10 finishes, the first in team history at a non-drafting track.

Christopher Bell and Daniel Suarez completed the top 10 finishing positions.

The NASCAR Cup Series races next Sunday at Kansas Speedway for the AdventHealth 400. Coverage begins on FS1 at 3 p.m. ET.
