Heading to a NASCAR race for the first time? Great! You’re about to have the experience of a lifetime at the WURTH 400 NASCAR Cup Series race.
NASCAR races are a blast, people in the community come together to celebrate the sport and watch their favorite drivers compete for a win. With this being the sport’s only stop at Texas Motor Speedway, the competition level is a bit higher.
We showcased some tips and tricks to have an enjoyable race day experience, but we wanted to share a first-time fan checklist so you know exactly what to expect.
Here’s a first-time fan checklist to get the most out of the NASCAR Texas race weekend.

Get to the track early, experience fan zone
The fan zone at NASCAR racedays is a great spot. Fans are gathered outside of the gates to enjoy the morning, play games, find giveaways and score awesome merchandise. Make sure to get to the track plenty early and take in the scene before the race.
Speaking of merchandise, stop by the haulers
Near the fan zone, there are merchandise haulers with all kinds of items for sale. Anything from hats, t-shirts, flags, pens, pencils and, of course, diecast cars, are available in these haulers. The haulers are separated by race team (for example, Hendrick Motorsports is in one hauler with Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, William Byron and Alex Bowman merchandise).
Bring that sunscreen!
Sunscreen is a must whenever you’re out in the sun for an extended period of time. The NASCAR Texas race will be no different. Bring in your sunscreen and keep yourself safe during the race (remember, even if it’s overcast, you can still experience sunburn).

Get to your seat early, be prepared to stand
You’ll want to make sure to get to your seat pretty early, give yourself some time to relax and enjoy the peaceful views before the chaotic racing action begins. There will also be lots of standing, including for every restart, a few laps after, and as the race is coming to a close.
Bring ear protection, don’t underestimate it
NASCAR stock cars are loud. Simply put. If you’re a first time fan, do not underestimate the volume the cars race past you at, especially if you’re sitting close to the track. If you don’t have some kind of ear protection, you are putting yourself at some risk of ear damage.
TIP: Get either some ear plugs or noise-canceling headphones, you’ll be in great shape.
Are coolers allowed at Texas Motor Speedway?
A maximum of two bags per person permitted through admission gates that do not exceed 18-inches by 18-inches by 14-inches in size. Soft-sided coolers that do not exceed 14-inches by 14-inches by 14-inches are permitted. A combination of any of these items will be permitted with the exception of one soft-sided cooler per guest. No glass is permitted at any time.
TIP: Freeze plastic water bottles before arrival to store in your bag or soft-sided cooler.
