The field for the third edition of the Women’s National Golf Invitational is set.
The postseason collegiate event, which is equivalent to the NIT in college basketball, is scheduled May 8-11 at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.
Presented in partnership with Golfweek, the 2025 Women’s NGI will feature 10 college teams competing in a 54-hole stroke-play tournament. There are four returning teams from the 2024 field, Mercer, Rutgers, Santa Clara and UNCW, with six newcomers hoping for a chance to claim a postseason title. Mercer and Santa Clara also appeared in the inaugural NGI in 2023.
In May 2022, the NCAA announced it would allow schools to play in one season-ending event. By July 2022, the inaugural National Golf Invitational was created in a partnership between Golfweek and Ak-Chin Southern Dunes, with Golfweek’s Lance Ringler serving as the Invitational’s tournament director.
The teams competing in the 2025 Men’s National Golf Invitational, scheduled for May 16-19, will be announced later.
Penn State captured the inaugural women’s title in 2023 while Rutgers claimed the trophy last spring and will be the first team to defend its title.
